I think it’d be rather exciting to meet a pirate.
#pirates of the caribbean was kind of a formative influence #and nothing about these movies so much as her—snarling selfish sea-hungry pirate king #sometimes I rewatch the first movie and laugh to myself about how little it understood her and will; how it tried to convince us #that will was the pirate because he was chasing after her; and pirates are obsessed with treasure #when elizabeth spends the first movie chasing freedom and the next two chasing him; chasing her freedom; chasing war; chasing the world #her wedding was interrupted and she held the man responsible at gunpoint until he gave her letters of pardon #she was mistaken for a sea goddess and accepted it without question; she led an army to war as though it were her due #and she did it all without ever apologizing for the lives she takes or the lies she tells and when she betrays sparrow with a kiss #he hisses ”pirate” because what else could she be
“Aye. Mermaids. Sea ghouls, devil fish, dreadful in hunger for flesh of man. Mermaid waters, that be our path. Cling to your soul as mermaids be given to take the rest, to the bone.”

“This is barbaric! This is no way for grown men to settle—oh, fine! Let’s just pull out our swords and start banging away at each other, that will solve everything! I’ve had it! I’ve had it with wobbly-legged, rum-soaked…pirates!”
For a s t a r to be born, there is one thing that must happen: a gaseous nebula must collapse. So collapse. Crumble. This is not your
destruction. This is your birth.
Me and the legendary Paola on harmonies did a cover of “Hoist the Colours” from the Pirates of the Caribbean quad(??)rilogy! I got a request to sing this a long time ago, so here it is fulfilled. Enjoy me hearties. xxx
HOIST THE COLOURS (From “Pirates of the Caribbean”)
The king and his men
stole the queen from her bed,
and bound her in her bones.
The seas be ours, and by the powers;
where we will, we’ll roam.Yo ho haul together,
hoist the colors high.
Heave ho, thieves and beggars;
never shall we die.Now some have died, and some are alive;
and others sail on the sea.
With the keys to the cage
and the devil to pay,
we lay to the fiddler’s green.Yo ho haul together,
hoist the colors high.
Heave ho, thieves and beggars;
never shall we die.The bell has been raised
from its watery grave,
hear its sepulchral tone.
A call to all; pay heed the squall,
and turn your sails to home.Yo ho, haul together,
hoist the colors high.
Heave ho, thieves and beggars;
never say we die.The king and his men
stole the queen from her bed,
and bound her in her bones.
The seas be ours, and by the powers;
where we will; we’ll roam.
